Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ 1.5 Litre Pot

Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ is a compact male skimmia, with glossy, deep green evergreen leaves and attractive reddish flower stems and buds. Dark red flower buds form in autumn and remain throughout winter before opening to fragrant, creamy-white flowers in early spring. It’s ideal for an autumn or winter container display, or for filling gaps in a shady border.

For best results, grow Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ in moist but well-drained, preferably acidic to neutral soil in partial to full shade. Avoid hot, sunny positions, which can cause the leaves to yellow. Trim lightly after flowering if needed and mulch annually with well-rotted manure, compost or other organic matter. As a male cultivar, ‘Rubella’ does not produce berries.
