Grown for their linear leaves and feathery, spikes, Pennisetum are used in mixed borders, and add a touch of drama to fresh and dried flower arrangements. Pennisetum glaucum ‘Purple Baron’ produces spiky, dark purple flower spikes from July to September. It’s the perfect backdrop to bold summer colours, and makes an interesting focal point in patio container displays.

Grow Pennisetum glaucum ‘Purple Baron’ in moist well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. Cut back dead top growth by early spring, and protect from frost with a dry mulch in winter.
