Pachira aquatica (Money Tree) with Braided Stem in 24cm Pot, Height 140cm

The money tree, Pachira aquatica, is a popular houseplant with attractive, umbrella-like leaves and an easygoing nature.

According to the Chinese art of feng shui, a well-placed money tree is thought to bring prosperity. Good fortune is traditionally said to be held within its trunk, while its five-lobed leaves are considered lucky. Money trees are therefore often given as wedding or housewarming gifts.

Pachira aquatica is easy to grow. Give it a warm spot with bright, indirect light and water when the top few centimetres of compost have dried out. It also appreciates some humidity, although it can adapt to average indoor conditions.
