Nasturtium Bloody Mary is an exciting variety. Flowers are unique in ever-changing patterns and shades, with a ‘flecked’ colour design. These interesting plants are compact with a mix of light and dark leaves. It can be sown where it is to flower. The large and bold blooms provide a peppery, watercress taste, making them one of the most exciting edible flowers around at the moment. Added to salads, they’ll be the talk of the dinner party!

Sow outdoors where they are to flower, 1.5cm (½”) deep, directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Sow two seeds together every 20cm (8”). Seedlings usually appear in 21-28 days. Remove the weaker plant, which can be transplanted elsewhere if desired. Water well until young plants are established. Or sow indoors for earlier flowers, 1.5cm (½”) deep, individually in small pots of compost. Keep moist. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 30cm (1’) apart, when frosts are over.
