This evergreen variety has glossy, dark green leaves which are very effective for hiding unsightly objects. It is will thrive in any soil type and can be trimmed at any time of the year. If the shoots are pinned down they will quickly take root making the plant useful for ground cover.

Those with sensitive skin should be careful when handling it as the sap can be irritating.

Hedera used their aerial roots to cling and climb up fences, sheds, walls and anywhere else you would like them to. Many species also make good groundcover plants and can be used to secure steep banks and slopes. Their flowers are greenish-yellow and although quite insignificant to humans, they are highly beneficial to insects. Their winter berries provide a great source of food for birds and other wildlife.
