Goeppertia / Calathea crocata ‘Tassmania’ (Eternal Flame) 14cm Pot

The leaves of this striking plant are a deep, purple-flushed green on top with a rich maroon underside, creating a beautiful bicoloured effect. Even when not in bloom, it adds a strong visual presence to any room. That said, the real stars are the flowers. Held aloft on long stems, they’re a vivid orange that truly glows and each bloom can last for up to three months.

Originating from tropical regions, this plant prefers relatively stable, warm temperatures (ideally above 15C) and a bright spot out of direct sunlight, think steamy jungle vibes! Keep the soil consistently moist, though you can reduce watering slightly during winter. It thrives in high humidity, so try placing it in a steamy room, misting it regularly, or standing the pot on a tray of damp pebbles.
