Davallia / Humata tyermanii is an unusual tropical fern with hairy rhizomes that have given it many common names including Rabbit’s Foot Fern, Squirrel Foot Fern, Deer Foot Fern, Hare Fern, Bear’s Foot Fern. It is native to the Canary Islands where it grows epiphytically from tree branches. New fronds have a deep red colour and mature a glossy green. It is quite a slow growing species and is relatively easy to care for.

  • Water well in warmer months, allowing top of soil to dry slightly between watering. Appreciates extra humidty.
  • Bright, indirect light – part shade.
  • Well draining, slightly moist soil.
