Carludovica ‘Jungle Drum’ 14cm Pot

Carludovica palmata ‘Jungle Drum’, often called the Panama Hat Plant or Jungle Drum Palm, is a lush tropical foliage plant known for its bold, pleated, fan-shaped leaves that instantly bring rainforest vibes to a space.

This plant thrives in bright, indirect light and can handle gentle morning or late-afternoon sun, but harsh midday rays should be avoided to prevent leaf scorch. Keep the soil evenly moist, allowing the top couple of centimetres to dry out between waterings and avoid leaving the plant sitting in soggy soil.

It prefers warm, humid conditions, ideally between 18 -28C, and temperatures should not drop below 12C. A humid room such as a bathroom suits it well. For best growth, plant it in a sandy loam mix that holds some moisture while still draining well.

As it matures, the striking pleated leaves will spread wider, turning it into a real statement plant. It also appreciates extra humidity, so occasional misting or placing it near a humidifier will help it thrive.
