Blechnum tabulare (Table Mountain Fern) 5 Litre Pot

Blechnum tabulare is an evergreen fern with large fronds that can reach up to 1m in length when mature. While not a true tree fern, it may gradually form a short trunk over time. It also produces offsets around the base of the plant, which can develop into a small colony.

It is well suited to a woodland border or stumpery, adding a lush, tropical effect in a shaded setting.

Grow Blechnum tabulare in moist but well-drained soil in partial to full shade and mulch annually with leaf mould. It is not fully hardy but can tolerate temperatures down to around -5°C for short periods. If the main crown is damaged in winter, do not remove the plant immediately, as new growth often emerges from the base in spring.
