Ananas comosus ‘Corona’ (Ornamental Pineapple)

14.99 “Price excl. VAT: 13.21

A curious plant with an ornamental pineapple growing from the top, but this pineapple is not for eating! Part of the Bromeliad plant family native to Tropical America it has swordlike spiny green leaves, held in a dense rosette, with the fruit held in the centre on a sturdy stalk.

It’s a real sun lover, so pop it on a sunny kitchen windowsill to be appreciated. Water whenever the top few centimetres of compost feel dry in spring and summer; allow any excess to drain away. Keep barely moist in winter. Snip off any dry leaves and give the occasional dust with a fine brush. Rotate occasionally to ensure even growth. Feed every two weeks with a weak liquid fertiliser in spring and summer and once a month in winter.

Supplied in a 12cm pot
